The XP math in plain numbers

Upgrading a blueprint from one star to six requires 29,600 total XP. The progression:

How to get six-star blueprints in Once Human — full guide

Step 1 — earn your first Starchrom

A new account should target the Stellar Stairway seasonal track, which grants up to 66,000 Starchrom across a full season. Battle Pass progress adds roughly 6,000 more if you reach level 55. This is enough to:

• Unlock one weapon blueprint at one star from the Blueprint Shop (8,000 Starchrom)
• Clear the Echoes of the Rift pool for a guaranteed legendary (10,000 Starchrom)
• Begin accumulating fragments for your target weapon

Step 2 — the Echoes of Rift + Blueprint Shop loop

The core efficient strategy:

1. Spend 10,000 Starchrom on Echoes of the Rift. This guarantees one legendary weapon and unlocks that blueprint at one star.
2. Go to the Blueprint Shop (press G at the Wish Machine) and purchase that same weapon for 8,000 Starchrom. Because you already own it, this grants 80 legendary fragments for that weapon. Do not use them yet — hold them.
3. Return to the Wish Machine and clear the limited-time prize pool that includes a weapon. For 10,000 Starchrom you get a one-star blueprint plus 10–15 fragments.
4. Buy that weapon from the Blueprint Shop for 8,000 Starchrom again. You now have 105 legendary fragments for that weapon.
5. Repeat with the remaining limited-time category that has a weapon. You end with another one-star blueprint and 105 fragments.

Total invested per weapon batch: approximately 62,000 Starchrom for 105 fragments.

Step 3 — the Wish Stone shortcut

If you can gather 10,000 additional Starchrom, you can purchase a Wish Stone from the Challenge Shop (ESC → Scenario Challenge → Challenge Shop → Other). The cost is 100 Mitsuko Marks.

Wishing for a weapon you already own gives you 185 legendary fragments for that weapon instead of the standard 10–15. This effectively closes the five-to-six star gap when combined with your accumulated fragments.

Step 4 — alt-account fragment funneling

If you are short on fragments for the four-to-five or three-to-four upgrade, create a new character on a different scenario (Way of Winter works well for first-timers) and run the Mystical Crate routes. Starchrom and Mystical Crates are account-shared, but crate exploration progress is per-scenario-group:

• Novice servers share one crate group
• All Southern Nalcott scenarios (Manibus, Prismverse Clash, Evolution’s Call) share a second group
• All Way of Winter scenarios (WoW, Endless Dream) share a third group

An alt on a fresh WoW server can collect Mystical Crates and Scenic Viewpoints (each gives Starchrom) and funnel everything to your main. Fragments and blueprints are account-wide.

Fragment math for the five-to-six star push

If you followed Step 2 for three weapons you will have roughly:

• One weapon with 185 legendary fragments (from the Wish Stone step)
• Two weapons with 105 fragments each

For five to six (10,000 XP needed): 185 fragments give 11,100 XP — covers it with 18 to spare.

For four to five (8,000 XP needed): 105 fragments give 6,300 XP. You need 1,700 more. Check whether your accumulated epic (purple) fragments in the same category fill the gap. If not, wait for the next limited-time category rotation and repeat the Echoes + Shop loop.

Does this work for armor?

Yes, the process is identical. Key armor pieces cost 8,000 Starchrom each from the Blueprint Shop; individual pieces are 3,000 Starchrom. After clearing the limited-time armor category you can begin swapping star ratings between pieces, making armor six-star upgrades significantly cheaper than weapons in total Starchrom spent.

Six-star armor matters most for Burn, Frost, Blast, and Shock builds that rely on PSI Intensity. For pure weapon-damage builds, six-star weapons outperform six-star armor.

1. Calculate how much Starchrom you can earn from current Battle Pass progress and Stellar Stairway.
2. Pick one weapon family as your six-star target. Do not scatter fragments across multiple families.

How much Starchrom does a new player earn per season? Approximately 66,000 from Stellar Stairway plus 6,000 from Battle Pass level 55, for a total of around 72,000. Additional amounts come from events and compensation.

Can I use the alt-account method for every season? Yes, as long as the scenario is new to that account. Once a scenario’s Mystical Crates are cleared, the shared-group progress is locked.

What happens to my fragments when a new weapon is added to the Wish Machine? Existing fragment pools are not affected. New weapons start at zero fragments like everything else.
