Once Human Map Guide

Dayton Wetlands to Blackheart — plus winter biomes and where a first core should live.

Last updated:

Nalcott Map

Nalcott is the Once Human overworld most Metas mean when they say “the map”: wetlands, delta, river, peaks, desert, and later horror. Way of Winter is a second geography with its own cold and heat. Isles of Abyss will add ocean regions in October 2026 (expansion notes). This page is where to stand on week one, not a pixel-complete atlas. Use it with getting started and base building.

A terminology pass in 2026 renamed some HUD strings (Rift Anchor → Worldstone, Realm → World, and others). Older videos still say Anchor. If the icon is a world progress node on the map, it counts.

Manibus / Nalcott regions (east to late)

Dayton Wetlands. Tutorial biome. Wildlife is rude but not endgame. Plant the first Territory Core here or on the edge of Broken Delta: water, ore, a road, low-level patrols. If you cannot find fresh water, you walked too far.

Broken Delta. First real loot and first real deaths. Good second-week core if Dayton feels crowded. Silos start to matter.

Iron River. Density up. Bring a vehicle. Survival food and ammo become a logistics problem instead of a flavour bar.

Chalk Peak. Vertical, cold-adjacent even on Manibus. Watch stamina and fall damage. Not a cute first-house ridge.

Red Sands. Heat, thirst, long sightlines. Filters and water on the hotbar. PvP brains love this biome even on PvE servers because there is nowhere to hide a bad rotate.

Blackheart (and later high zones). Assume you have a starred build, Gel, and a reason to be here. Prime War bosses and high silos live in this energy even when the pin is technically elsewhere.

Exact silo names (Alpha, Phi, Sigma, Lea Lab, monoliths) move with scenario seasons. If a location video predates your season, trust the in-game map pin over a 2024 thumbnail.

Way of Winter biomes

Vena Fjord, Ember Strand, Onyx Tundra (and their neighbours) are temperature puzzles. Insulated gear, heaters, and scenario tools are the entry ticket. A Manibus core layout still works; the HVAC does not. Read scenarios before you main winter as character one.

The snowy settlement screenshot on the homepage is this fantasy: pretty, lethal if you tourist in a t-shirt.

What to pin besides the house

  • Worldstones / Rift Anchors. Map progress, teleport logic, seasonal tasks. Hit them as you pass; do not make a dedicated sad tour until the core prints ore.
  • Silos and monoliths. Instanced PvE. Match the weapon to the modifier. Nightmare is opt-in.
  • Prime War sites. Public world bosses. Group content. Bring Whisper or Gel, not a logging beaver.
  • Deviant spawn POIs. Mark Gel / Digby / Eel as you find them. Spawns shift; the Deviants guide is the method.
  • Ore, oil, water. The real map. Digby Boy does not teleport.

Where not to build

  • Pretty clifftops with no water.
  • On top of a silo door.
  • In a PvP scenario funnel (Evolution’s Call).
  • Inside a high-level Deviation patrol that respawns in your kitchen.

Relocating is allowed. Relocating three times in a weekend is how seasons evaporate.

Ocean preview

Isles of Abyss adds five ocean regions, wrecks, and underwater ruins. Until the October 2026 patch publishes names, do not sell the Dayton core. Land still exists. The updates hub will catch the real map list when Starry ships it.

Open the in-game map, drop a pin on water-plus-ore, and go play. Atlas completion is a hobby; ammo is a need.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Once Human questions.

Where should a new player build?

Dayton Wetlands or the safe edge of Broken Delta, on water and ore, off a road.

What is a Rift Anchor now?

Many strings now say Worldstone. Same idea: a map progress node you should click as you travel.

Is Way of Winter the same map?

No. Different biomes and temperature. Do not treat it as colder Dayton.

Will Isles of Abyss replace Nalcott?

No. It adds ocean regions in October 2026. Keep your land core.
