Once Human Scenarios Explained

Same guns, different rulesets. Pick the scenario that matches the season you want to live.

Scenarios Guide

Once Human is not one persistent realm. When you press Play you pick a scenario — a seasonal ruleset with its own map twist, modifiers, and sometimes PvP. Gear and cosmetics can travel through Eternaland; your time in a bad first pick does not. This page is the 2026 chooser for new console Metas and returning PC players. Pair it with getting started and the map.

All scenarios still use crafting, Territory Cores, Deviants, and the Wish Machine. The difference is the extra knife they hold to those systems.

Manibus (PvE, default)

Eastern Nalcott, Prime War world bosses, and the “vanilla” campaign. If you have never played, start here. You learn Memetics, Sanity, silos, and hive play without temperature or warbands. Nightmare difficulties exist later; they are opt-in, not the tutorial.

Manibus is also where most build writers test Shrapnel and Bounce numbers. If a creator says “this clears Phi nightmare,” they usually mean Manibus silos.

Way of Winter (PvE, temperature)

A cold-and-heat survival overlay. Vena Fjord, Ember Strand, and Onyx Tundra punish you for dressing like a Manibus tourist. Heaters, insulated gear, and scenario tools are mandatory. Combat is still Once Human gunplay; the deaths are often the weather.

Play winter after you can stand up a base with spare power. It is the wrong first character unless you specifically want that fantasy.

Endless Dream (PvE, density)

A more open, meaner PvE sandbox with high monster density and its own resource sinks (sand into the Dream Door for Reality Fragments on some patches). Bring a finished gun and a heal Deviant. This is the “I already know Manibus” PvE lane, not a second tutorial.

Deviation: SCP (PvE, pet combat)

Survive, Capture, Preserve. Player weapons are tuned down so Deviants do the hurting. Gym-style challenges and trainer rankings showed up with the Palworld-flavored event era. If you loved capturing more than shooting, this is the scenario. If you installed Once Human for an AR, stay on Manibus.

Evolution’s Call (PvP, warbands)

Large-group PvP. You join a warband and fight other players for space and objectives. Base defense actually matters. Read the PvP build page before you drop a pretty glass house on the frontier.

Prismverse’s Clash (PvP, factions)

Mayfly versus Rosetta faction war. Solo players can contribute to the team goal, but a group still wins the fun. Frost Vortex and Bullseye loadouts from the weapon tier list show up constantly here.

RaidZone (PvP spin-off)

A separate PvP offering with multiple modes and, later, Blood Moon / Phantom rules. Console exclusive RaidZone servers were still being retimed in September 2026 after launch demand. Check updates before you assume a server exists in your region. The official RaidZone trailer on the PvP builds page is the tone poem; this page is the warning that it is not Manibus with extra steps.

Visional Wheel and seasonal overlays

On top of scenarios, Starry Studio runs Visional Wheel seasons (Gravity Abyss, sound-focused Season 5, and so on). These add a boss, a modifier, and a Battle Pass. They are not a reason to abandon Manibus; they are a reason to read patch notes when a new wheel starts.

Isles of Abyss, the ocean expansion scheduled for October 2026, adds island-and-underwater loops, raft-to-fortress vehicles, and the Sunken Lord. It is a content drop across platforms, not a replacement for the scenario picker. Details sit on the Isles of Abyss page.

How transfers and Eternaland work

When a scenario season ends you keep account-wide progress (blueprints, cosmetics, much of Starchrom) and you use Eternaland as the warehouse. You do not get to clone a fully geared Manibus character into Prismverse without the scenario’s own transfer rules. Always read the current season’s carry-over notes in updates before you infinite-star a gun you will not be allowed to fire.

Quick picker

  • First character, any platform → Manibus
  • You like Palworld-style pets → Deviation: SCP after Manibus basics
  • You like rust-belt weather simulators → Way of Winter
  • You want harder PvE without PvP → Endless Dream
  • You want player kills → Evolution’s Call or Prismverse, with a PvP build
  • You are on console week one → Manibus plus the console guide

Pick once, play a week, then reroll with information instead of a hunch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Once Human questions.

Can I change scenario without making a new character?

You can start another character on another scenario. Gear transfer is limited and seasonal. Eternaland is the bridge, not a full clone.

Is Manibus still relevant after console launch?

Yes. It remains the onboarding PvE scenario and the testbed for most public builds.

Which scenario is best for solo?

Manibus, then Endless Dream. PvP scenarios are playable solo but they are group games.

Where does Isles of Abyss fit?

It is an October 2026 expansion layer (ocean map and ships), not a sixth PvP mode. See the dedicated updates page.
