Once Human Bounce Bow Build

The beginner-friendly tag that still chains nightmare rooms if you star the Compound Bow.

Bounce Bow Build

Bounce is the other Once Human PvE religion: projectiles that keep hitting after the first impact. On a Compound Bow it is the best new-player weapon that does not cap in the mid-game. DualSense players get extra comfort from trigger tension; the damage tag still works on mouse and mobile. This page is the loadout. Rankings sit on the weapon tier list.

If you already six-starred an SN700, you do not need to reroll. If you are choosing a first family after getting started, Bounce is the correct alternative to Shrapnel.

Beginner Compound Bow

Gun. Compound Bow with the current Bounce / betrayal-named blueprint line (creators shorthand it as Burden of Betrayal in some 2026 videos — always match the Bounce tag in the tooltip, not the poetry).

Ammo. Craft the ammo the bow actually wants. Bows are not “infinite arrows from the environment” after the first hour. Bulk-craft at the base.

Calibration. Bounce, crit, and weak-spot lines. Animal hide perks that feed those lines. A pretty blue calibration without Bounce in the text is fuel for the Wish Machine XP pile.

Armor. Crit-leaning Lonewolf works. If a creator calls a “key armor” helmet for the bow, it is usually a unique that refunds or multiplies Bounce — treat it like the Cage helmet on SN700: optional until it drops, not a gate.

Mods. Crit Amplifier, Deadshot, and whatever the current Bounce-named armor mod is. Do not socket Shrapnel Carnage “because the other page said so.” Tags do not stack that way.

Deviant. Festering Gel on the beginner half. Pro clips swap to a damage / weak-spot pet once you stop face-tanking.

Food. Same philosophy as Shrapnel: weapon-damage cook, clean drinks, no polluted street meat (survival).

Cradle. Distant weapon mastery often replaces light-weapon mastery. Keep deviant emergency defense. Test in the open world before a silo; first-person bow draw on console feels different from third-person.

Pro half

The embedded video splits beginner and pro: blueprint stars, calibration, hide perks, Cradle, ammo, armor mods, then the expensive Deviant and food. Copy the pro half only when:

  • The bow is high-star.
  • You can keep Bounce chains on a boss without dropping the draw in panic.
  • You already have Gel as a backup in the unit next door.

Bounce shines in rooms with extra targets because chains need a second body. On a lonely boss, weak-spot discipline matters more — some Metas swap to SN700 for that one fight and keep the bow for everything else. That is a two-gun luxury. Earn it.

Controller and mobile notes

  • PS5. Adaptive triggers make draw weight obvious. Bind a comfortable aim hold; see controls.
  • Xbox. Same build, different rumble. Game Pass cosmetics do not add Bounce.
  • Mobile. Bow is playable; the tag is not a reason to skip a fire button AR if you cannot draw smoothly. Comfort > ego.

When not to Bounce

Prismverse peeks often favor instant-hit rifles — use the PvP page. Underwater Isles of Abyss content (October 2026) may want different tools; check updates after it ships before you six-star a second bow “for the ocean.”

Secondary: still a Recurve Crossbow for marks if you have the slot. Do not run two bows just to match a screenshot.

Stay on this tag for a month, cook, star, and you will out-clear Metas who swapped to four ARs they saw in a shorts app.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Once Human questions.

Is the Compound Bow good for complete beginners?

Yes. It is one of two S-tier starter families, and it scales into nightmare content.

Bow or SOCR if I can only star one?

Whichever you aim better with after an hour. Both are S. Do not star both in month one.

Does Bounce work in first-person?

Yes. Relearn draw timing. The tag does not change.

What Deviant for Bounce?

Festering Gel until you are stable. Then the damage pet your current season's silo actually drops.
