Once Human Deviant Tier List
Combat slots versus territory slots — rank both or you will house the wrong mascot.
There are roughly eighty Deviants split across combat, territory, and crafting. You will not house them all. This list ranks who deserves an Isolated Securement Unit in 2026 Manibus, with notes for SCP and winter. Capture how-to is on the Deviants guide; this page is the keep-or-release call.
Tiers assume you have a handful of units, not a zoo. If two S-tier pets fight for one combat slot, the silo you are walking into decides — heal for learning, taunt for Prime War, damage for a fight you already never die in.
Combat S-tier
Festering Gel (common). Heal, HP, Sanity, a fortification. Easy to find, never outgrown. If a new Meta asks for one name, this is it. Pairs with every build.
Lonewolf’s Whisper (rare). Offensive combat pet that rips aggro and deals real damage. Synergizes with Shrapnel because enemies look the wrong way while pellets work. Prime War pickup groups should bring one.
Polar Jelly (rare). Strong alternate combat rare when Whisper does not drop. Keep if your silo deaths are “I got touched,” not “I forgot to shoot.”
Combat A-tier
Shattered Maiden (Unstable Bomber synergy), Mini Wonder (PvP and utility), Butterfly’s Emissary / weak-spot butterflies (nightmare SN700 showcases), Artisan’s Touch (damage once you already have a healer). These are real upgrades. They are not a reason to bench Gel on a first character.
Territory S-tier
The Digby Boy (common). Passive ore. The single biggest quality-of-life pet in the game. If your securement cap is two, Gel + Digby is the correct pair.
Electric Eel (common). Power so the base is not a generator simulator.
Chefosaurus Rex (epic). Cooking is survival. An epic cook is how food buffs become default instead of a chore.
Territory A-tier
Logging Beaver (wood), Growshroom + Rain Man (farming), Flame Essence (smelting), Nutcracker (defense), Rebecca (energy recovery). Staff the base with these as units unlock. None of them belong in a Cradle on the way to Lea Lab.
B and below
Duplicate combat skins, event mascots with no work mode, and pets that need more babysitting than they print. Keep one for the shelf in Eternaland. Release or fuse extras after the September 2026 fusion system if you need traits — never fuse your only Gel.
Scenario modifiers
- Deviation: SCP — combat pets jump a tier because your gun does not. Whisper and damage epics outrank fashion.
- Way of Winter — territory pets that feed fuel and food climb; a pretty combat-only pet does not heat the house.
- PvP — Mini Wonder and burst pets move up; Digby still pays the ammo bill at home. See PvP builds.
Assignment cheat sheet
| Goal | Take with you | Leave at core |
|---|---|---|
| First week | Festering Gel | Digby Boy, Electric Eel |
| Nightmare silo | Gel or weak-spot butterfly | Full worker staff |
| Prime War | Lonewolf’s Whisper | Nutcracker on the gate |
| AFK night | nothing | Growshroom, Beaver, Chefosaurus |
If you only remember three names after this page: Gel, Digby, Eel. Everything else is a luxury you earn after the getting started week.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Once Human questions.
Is Festering Gel really still good?
Yes. Common rarity is a feature. Heal plus Sanity scales into endgame instead of out of it.
Should I drop Digby Boy for a rare combat pet?
Not on a small securement cap. Ore funds ammo, stars, and food. Combat rares wait for a third unit.
Where do I find these pets?
The Deviants guide and the embedded location video on that page. Spawns can move after a scenario reset.
Do fused Deviants replace this list?
Fusion remixes traits. It does not make a logging beaver into a silo healer. Keep the S-tier floor pets intact.
